Profile quality

A profile can be clean, messy, broken, or incomplete. The classification badge is useful only after the underlying level order passes a quality check.

Four GEX profile quality states Side-by-side comparison of Clean (ordered P1, pT, HVL, cT, C1 ladder), Messy (several similar walls with no single dominant peak), Invalid order (crossed P1 and C1 boundaries), and Insufficient data (missing primary levels). CLEAN + Ordered ladder Clear dominant C1 and P1 C1 cT HVL pT P1 P1 < pT < HVL < cT < C1 State badge summarizes a valid, readable ladder. MESSY + Several similar walls No single dominant strike C1 C2 C3 C1, C2, C3 nearly equal Order holds, but no single wall dominates the chain. INVALID ORDER ! Crossed boundaries Levels out of ladder order P1 P1 above C1 C1 profile.is_broken = true Zones cannot shade; read the raw strike bars directly. INSUFFICIENT Missing levels Sparse or one-sided chain C1 No HVL / pT No P1 wall Incomplete level set Switch expiry or cumulative, or inspect Abs GEX and OI.
Four structural outcomes: a clean ordered ladder (P1 ≤ pT ≤ HVL ≤ cT ≤ C1), a messy profile where several walls have similar size, an invalid crossed hierarchy (such as P1 above C1), and an incomplete chain with missing levels.
QualityWhat you seeHow to read it
CleanP1 ≤ pT ≤ HVL ≤ cT ≤ C1, visible hierarchy, nearby levels do not overlap into one flat shelf. The named state is a compact summary of an ordered profile. Still context, not a forecast.
MessySeveral similar peaks, alternating call/put concentrations, or little clear dominance around spot.Inspect the raw profile. A distant wall or disagreement between aggregation modes alone does not make a profile broken.
Invalid levelsSome primary boundaries are out of non-decreasing order; the profile cannot be read as a simple ladder.Inspect the raw distribution and the API’s separate profile.is_broken flag. A quality flag is different from a regime state.
Insufficient dataA required wall or transition level is absent.Try another expiry or cumulative mode; inspect Abs GEX/OI rather than inventing a missing wall.

A quick check before using a badge

  1. Confirm the expiry and standalone/cumulative method.
  2. Check that P1, pT, HVL, cT, and C1 form an ordered ladder. Spot can be inside or outside that ladder.
  3. Compare distance and relative size; a clean far-away wall can still be irrelevant to this session.
  4. Look at the raw profile. A badge compresses the picture; it cannot repair a flat or sparse chain.

A profile with conflicting hierarchy

The illustration marks a put-side concentration at 57.5 above a call-side concentration at 55. The crossed hierarchy is a reason to examine the raw profile rather than force a simple support-and-resistance interpretation.
LearnHistorical IREN example

The illustration marks a put-side concentration at 57.5 above a call-side concentration at 55. The crossed hierarchy is a reason to examine the raw profile rather than force a simple support-and-resistance interpretation. Original article and full example.

Uneven structure can reflect the selected expiration, sparse positioning, or several competing concentrations. It does not prove that all participants disagree or that liquidity is absent. Check those questions separately.
