GEX Live Chart

View options-derived levels and profile bars alongside price candles for the selected symbol and expiration view. Choose the column metrics, zone colors, and additional level labels you want to compare.

The chart is a separate sidebar item, not a tab inside the table. It uses the same expiry, the same levels, and the same minute refresh. Open GEX Live Chart from your signed-in WebApp session.

Options analytics refresh about once a minute from 6:40 AM to 4:00 PM ET on weekdays. Spot prices stream separately in real time while the live feed is available.

Find your way around the chart

Start with the symbol and expiration, then the candle timeframe, the profile columns, and the settings control. The numbered highlights match the list.

WebAppAround the chartThis example uses 15-minute candles, with Net DEX on the left and Net GEX and Detailed Vol on the right. Horizontal lines place the options-derived levels alongside the candles.
  1. Symbol and expiration. Confirm the instrument in the header, then choose an expiration. Check whether cumulative or standalone mode is selected, because the mode determines which expirations contribute to the analytics. See Symbols and futures and Expirations.
  2. Timeframe. Choose the interval for the price candles. The illustrated toolbar also contains Replay / GEX History for reviewing saved analytics. See GEX History/Replay.
  3. Metric columns. Compare column metrics by price using one metric column on the left and two on the right. Each column has its own metric dropdown. Drag a column border to resize it.
  4. Settings. Open GEX Level & Chart Settings to control secondary levels, zone coloring, and relative-size filtering. See Chart and layout.

Details sidebar

Beside the chart, the right-hand Details sidebar summarizes the selected expiration at a glance. It is the same sidebar as on GEX Live Table.

  • 52W Range & 0DTE EM Box — where spot sits inside its 52-week range (or today's session range on 0DTE).
  • Net Exposure — total Net Gamma and Net Delta across the selected scope, with 1-day change.
  • Gamma Profile — the current regime state (see GEX states) and key levels (C1, cT, HVL, pT, P1) with distance from spot.
  • Adaptive Expected Move — the forward Tanuki Smart Range for the selected DTE.
  • Chain Activity — open-interest baseline versus today's volume flow. It is not a direction call. See Chain Activity.
Details sidebar top cards: 52W Range, Net Exposure, and Gamma Profile.Details sidebar bottom cards: Adaptive Expected Move and Chain Activity.

Use the candles to follow price through time and the profile bars to compare the selected metric across price levels. For the numeric strike-by-strike view, open GEX Live Table.

A few more things sit on the same chart:

  • Earnings appear as a dashed time marker. The selected expiry is a vertical line, and it stays as a sticky label if it scrolls off the chart.
  • Copy Levels sits next to the Replay control. It is optional, and only for pasting a snapshot into the TradingView GEX Profile PRO indicator. The chart already shows the levels, so skip it if you only use the WebApp. See Copy levels to TradingView.

Timeframes, premarket, and candle themes

Use the timeframe bar above the chart to switch between 1m, 3m, 5m, 15m, 1H, 4H, and 1D candles. Changing the timeframe reloads the historical candles while the spot price continues to update in real time. Premarket is a separate toggle inside GEX Level & Chart Settings rather than part of the timeframe selector.

Under Candle Style in GEX Level & Chart Settings, choose from eleven visual themes—including Classic (green and red), Monochrome, Hollow, Line, Earth, Psy, Moss, Solar, and additional display variants. Your chosen theme is saved in this browser.

Choose your column metrics

The three profile columns sit beside the candles. Each one has its own metric dropdown, including Net GEX and None.

The three metric-column dropdowns highlighted on GEX Live Chart, with an enlarged menu showing None and nine metric choices.
WebAppColumn metricsNet GEX is selected in the enlarged menu. In the Chart view, Net GEX is available as a column metric; None hides the selected metric column.

Open the dropdown for any of the three profile columns—one on the left and two on the right—and select a column metric (Net GEX, Net DEX, Net OI, Detailed OI, Abs OI, Abs GEX, Net Volume, Detailed Vol, or GEX by Vol). Choose None when you want to hide one of the profile columns.

A small Net GEX bar can coexist with larger call-side and put-side positions that offset each other; switching a column to Abs GEX or Detailed OI exposes that two-sided size.

See Column metrics for full definitions of every option in the menu and Chart and layout for shared level presets and workspace layout controls.

Show gamma zones on the chart

Gamma zones shade the chart between the primary walls and transition boundaries, so you can see where price sits inside the profile.

The chart-settings control and a shaded chart region highlighted beside enlarged Chart Zone Coloring switches.
WebAppGamma zonesOpen chart settings, enable the relevant zone switches, and compare the shaded regions with the plotted levels and candles. The highlighted chart area provides an example.

Open GEX Level & Chart Settings, find Chart Zone Coloring, and enable the zones you want to display.

  • Positive Gamma Profile Zone: the green region between Call Transition (cT) and the Call Wall (C1).
  • Transition Zone: the turquoise region from Put Transition (pT) through HVL to cT.
  • Negative Gamma Profile Zone: the red region between the Put Wall (P1) and pT.
  • +/− Gamma Extension Zone Mark: the extension regions beyond C1 and P1, identified by the purple control in settings.

HVL means High Volatility Level. pT means Put Transition. Use the zones to describe price's position within the displayed options structure. Their colors are analytical context, not buy or sell signals.

If expected shading is missing, check the zone switches and the relevant primary levels. An incomplete or unordered profile may prevent zones from being drawn. See HVL, Call & Put Walls for the primary levels and zone boundaries.

Add secondary levels

Beyond the primary walls and transitions, secondary levels add labels for gamma walls, absolute gamma, open interest, volume, and delta. Turn on only the groups you want to compare, and see Secondary level badges for the exact definition of every badge.

Secondary-level controls enlarged beside highlighted open-interest, volume, gamma, and delta labels on the chart.
WebAppSecondary levelsThe settings groups control additional horizontal levels and labels. The chart boxes identify examples of the labels displayed by those groups.

Use the switches under Secondary Key Levels to show or hide each group. The count controls beside Secondary Gamma Walls and Abs GEX let you adjust how many ranked levels to display.

Settings groupLevel labels
Secondary Gamma WallsC2–C6 and P2–P6
Abs GEXAb1–Ab3
Open InterestCOI, POI, nCOI, nPOI, AbOI
VolumeCV, PV, nCV, nPV
Delta ExposureD+ and D−

These labels add detail alongside C1, cT, HVL, pT, and P1. Different measures can place more than one label at the same price. For example, the illustrated chart has open-interest labels grouped at one level and gamma and delta labels grouped at another.

The selected level counts, the relative-size filter, and the visible price range affect which labels appear. If candles overlap a label, inspect the level in Level Analysis to read its explanation separately.

Filter levels by relative size

When secondary labels crowd the chart, relative-size filtering hides the smaller ones. The status panel shows why a label is missing.

Enlarged Relative Size Filtering controls set to 25%, beside a level-status panel showing Visible, Off-screen, and Filtered entries.
WebAppRelative sizeThese two screenshots show a 25% threshold at different moments. The value illustrates the filter; it is not presented as a default or a general recommendation.

Adjust Relative Size Filtering to hide smaller secondary levels within each group. Increasing the threshold removes more of those levels from the display. The filter applies to secondary levels; C1, P1, and HVL remain. A fresh browser starts that slider at 15%, inside the 8–25% band the app calls balanced filtering.

Open the level-status panel beside the chart-settings control to check the status of individual levels. The illustrated panel shows:

StatusMeaning
VisibleThe level is displayed in the current view.
Off-screenIt lies outside the visible price range.
FilteredIts relative size is below the selected threshold.

At the illustrated 25% threshold, C2–C6 and D+ are filtered. The panel lists C2 at 14%, C3 and C4 at 11%, C5 at 8%, C6 at 7%, and D+ at 1%.

POI is 100% but marked Off-screen. Its size is above the threshold; it is outside the visible range. Checking the status prevents you from confusing a filtered level with a level that simply is not on screen.

A smaller relative size does not, by itself, make a level irrelevant to your analysis. Choose the amount of detail you need and use the status panel to understand what has been removed from the display.

Inspect a chart level in context

Select a level label to open Level Analysis: what the label measures, which other labels share that price, and where it sits in the zones.

A group of level labels selected on the chart, beside enlarged Level Analysis excerpts for the 6,600 strike.
WebAppLevel AnalysisThe enlarged excerpts come from the same Level Analysis panel. In this example, Ab1, D−, nCV, and CV share the 6,600 strike.

Select a level label on the chart to open Level Analysis. Read the level's definition, review other labels at that price, and check the surrounding zone context. The panel also shows the distance from spot.

  1. Confluence. The panel groups levels that share the strike. Here, four labels describe gamma, delta, and call-volume measures at 6,600.
  2. Level definition. The enlarged Ab1 entry identifies the strike with the highest combined gamma exposure. Other entries explain the measures behind their labels.
  3. Zone context. The panel places the selected level within the displayed zones. In this example, 6,600 sits in the negative gamma zone identified as 6,500–6,605.

Several labels at one price describe overlapping features of the options data. They provide context for analysis, not a trade recommendation.

A short chart-reading routine

  1. Confirm the symbol, expiration, and cumulative or standalone mode.
  2. Locate the displayed price relative to HVL, the gamma walls, and the shaded zones. Note whether that is the positive zone, the transition zone, the negative zone, or an extension past C1 or P1.
  3. Inspect nearby labels in Level Analysis, including C1, P1, HVL, and Ab1 when they are close. Check level status when an expected label is not visible.

That is context. It is not a signal. See GEX and Misconceptions.

When the picture looks wrong

  • Zones vanish when C1 or P1 is not shown, or when the profile is not ordered around HVL.
  • A flat Net GEX column can hide two-sided size. Switch that column to Abs GEX or Detailed OI.
  • The chart is built for a desktop. On a phone, GEX Live Table is the clearer view.

Continue with Chart and layout for shared presets and workspace layout controls, or GEX History/Replay for saved analytics. Copy levels into TradingView only if you use GEX Profile PRO.
