Column metrics

The configurable columns in GEX Live Table and the profile columns in GEX Live Chart are different lenses on the same option chain. Choose the metric in each column header to compare positioning, gamma magnitude, and intraday flow at every strike.

In GEX Live Table, Net GEX is always fixed in the central column while the three surrounding dynamic columns let you pick from the eight strike metrics below (or switch all three at once with Column Presets (Ctrl+L)). In GEX Live Chart, one profile column sits on the left and two sit on the right; each dropdown also includes Net GEX and None (to hide that column).

Available column metrics

Menu labelWhere selectableWhat it measures
Net GEXChart dropdowns (fixed center column in Table)Net gamma exposure at each strike (call gamma minus put gamma under the model convention).
Net DEXTable & ChartNet delta exposure at each strike—call open interest weighted by call delta minus put open interest weighted by the magnitude of put delta. See Delta exposure.
Net OITable & ChartCall open interest minus put open interest at the strike, with no delta or gamma weighting.
Detailed OITable & ChartCall and put open interest shown side by side so you can see both sides rather than only their difference.
Abs OITable & ChartCombined call plus put open interest. Highlights a crowded strike even when Net OI is near zero.
Abs GEXTable & ChartCombined call-side plus put-side gamma magnitude. Unlike the absolute value of Net GEX, it stays large when heavy call and put gamma cancel each other in the net.
Net VolumeTable & ChartCall volume minus put volume for the displayed session.
Detailed VolTable & ChartCall and put volume shown side by side for the displayed session.
GEX by VolTable & ChartGamma exposure weighted by today's option volume instead of open interest. Its scale is separate from Net GEX and reflects where activity is trading rather than confirmed new inventory.
NoneChart dropdownsHides that profile column on GEX Live Chart.

Open interest versus volume

Open interest (OI) is the book that is already open. Reported OI updates on a daily clearing cycle, so the OI columns (Net OI, Detailed OI, Abs OI) normally stay unchanged during the trading session. A static OI column after the open is expected.

Volume is today's trading activity. The volume columns (Net Volume, Detailed Vol, GEX by Vol) move with the WebApp's minute refresh during the update window. Before 9:30 AM ET, session volume columns reflect the prior session. Positioning answers where exposure was built; flow answers what is trading now. Confluence reads them as separate layers on purpose.

Why net, detailed, and absolute views differ

Illustration: 10,000 calls and 9,500 puts at the same strike

Net OI is +500 contracts while Abs OI is 19,500. The net looks small, yet both sides carry substantial open interest. Detailed OI and Abs GEX preserve that two-sided size when call and put contributions offset each other in Net OI or Net GEX. None of these columns alone identifies which market participants are long or short.

Session volume can also exceed open interest because contracts trade repeatedly and participants both open and close positions. High volume at a strike shows active trading, not automatically newly opened dealer inventory. For the peak badges derived from these columns (Ab1–Ab3, COI, POI, nCOI, nPOI, AbOI, CV, PV, nCV, nPV, and D+ / D−), see Secondary level badges.
